Tips and Tricks for keeping your new Sofa in its best condition:

-         Know the spot cleaning codes so you can act fast if a spill occurs.

-         Pat Immediately with a soft white cloth. Test cleaner first in an inconspicuous spot. Don’t saturate the fabric with cleaner. Pat instead or rubbing to avoid altering the texture of the fabric. Clean stain from outer edge in to avoid circling.

-         Overall cleaning of your sofa should occur every 12-24 months. Don’t wait for sever soiling-more soiling, less likelihood of restoring fabric. Use a professional upholstery cleaning service if necessary.

Leather

-         Never use detergents, polishes, preservers, or even saddle soap.

-         Do not place leather furniture in direct sunlight. Over time, sunlight will bleach upholstery and leather.

-         Some scratches can be removed by rubbing with fingertips. Friction and heat from rubbing helps redistribute wax in surrounding areas to cover scratches. Not all scratches have the same depth so this method may not work on deeper scratches. Keep in mind that leather is not for everyone; customers with children or pets may see more scratches/scuffs than average leather customers and so need to choose the type of leather wisely and may need to be comfortable with a more ‘well-worn’ look.

-         Suede’s should be brushed with a soft suede brush for routing maintenance. Our suede’s have a protective topcoat so spills should initially bead up. Blot immediately with absorbent cloth dampened in distilled water, from outer edge in to prevent circling. When dry, brush with a soft suede brush.

The Leather Collection offers conditioners, protectors and ‘problem solvers’ designed specifically for full anilines, protected anilines and nubuck (suede). ‘Problem Solvers’ include pen, wine and scratch removers as well as color matching lotions for faded leathers. To buy product you may contact The Leather Collection directly at 828-256-9773. Please note that some more advanced repair products may be best applied by a professional.

Slipcovers

-         Check the cleaning code for your slipcover. Not every slipcover is machine washable. Slipcovers that are machine washable must be washed in front-loading washers only. Agitators in top loading washers will stretch the fabric and create stress on the material.

-         Slipcovers should be dried on an AirDry setting and removed from the dryer while still damp to avoid shrinking the slipcover. Place the slipcover on the base while it’s still damp to the touch. This will ensure that the cover will go on easily without having to stretch it out to fit. Let dry before next use.

See your warranty card that accompanies your purchase for detailed instructions prior to washing your slipcover.

Fluff! Fluff! Fluff!

Fluffing your sofa is the quickest and easiest way to make your sofa look as though it just rolled off the factory assembly line.

-         All cushions, regular poly and down cushions need regular fluffing.

-         Cushions should be fluffed after every use for greatest care and comfort but if that is too much, once a week will suffice.

-         Lift the cushion off of the sofa, hold it zipper side up and beat it a few times on each side so fill shifts back towards the front of the cushions as well as gathers air to get more loft.

-         For down blend cushions with zip off casings; at least once a year remove casings from foam core and put casing in a dryer for 10 minutes on air dry (no heat) to remove excess moisture and revitalize the down.

Warranty

We stand behind the product that we sell!

Frames and springs are warranted to be free from defects due to faulty materials or craftsmanship for the life of the product under normal residential use. This warranty is only valid as long as the furniture is upholstered in its original fabric. For slip covered furniture, this is the fabric that covers the base of the piece.

We warranty our upholstery fabrics for a period of one year against wear under normal residential use. This warranty does not cover fading of fabric which sometimes occurs with normal use of fabrics. Also note that if you choose to have fabric protection applied to your purchase this voids our fabric warranty, however most fabric protectors comes with their own warranty.

We warranty all cushions cores for the lifetime of the product as originally upholstered under normal residential wear. All foams and filling materials will soften and conform to the shape of the users; this is considered normal and is not considered a defect.

Further warranty information can be found on the warranty card that that will accompany your furniture.

Eco-Friendly

Global climate change is an issue that no responsible business can ignore. As a steward of our environment, LOFT has made a commitment to source its products from manufacturers that adhere to the highest level of sustainable and socially responsible business practices.

Upholstery

Frames: The wood used in our eco-friendly upholstery frames are sourced from domestic suppliers dedicated to responsible forest management. The glue used in our frame construction is water-based, non-toxic and biodegradable. Our metal springs and mechanisms are made from 65 percent recycled metal.

Seat Cushions: Wrapped in 80 percent regenerated fibers, our ozone-friendly, non carcinogenic foam cushions are composed of up to 10 percent soy: an all natural, renewable resource.

Back Pillow: Our back pillows are partially composed of recycled fibers that were once plastic bottles.

Back/Arm Padding: Our earth friendly foam padding is also produced with a soy-based biomaterial; an abundant product provided by nature.

Fabrics: We offer eco-friendly fabrics derived from natural fibers such as cotton, linen, mohair and hemp.

Case Goods

Tables, Beds, Dressers etc… The majority of our case goods are manufactured using a rare reclaimed wood known as Peroba Rosa. Once ubiquitously used for construction in Brazil, today this tree is illegal to harvest due to over-forestation of this resource for building use. Taken from derelict barns and houses, Peroba wood is unlike any other in its characteristics. With an average age of 70-100 years, the Peroba wood adorns itself with a weathered and distressed look unparallel to any other wood we have ever seen.  The reclaimed nature of this product not only makes it beautiful but eco-friendly as well.

Packaging: Our cartons are made from recycled material and are 100 percent recyclable.

Business Practices: In an effort to work towards change, we encourage the public to make everyday decisions that support eco-conscious living. It is our mission to support our customers by helping them cultivate organically rich lifestyles through the purchase of sustainable and socially responsible products. Your purchase at LOFT enforces our commitment to preserving our environment and supporting global change.

Construction

FACTS

Frames

-         Hardwood (poplar, maple, ash) instead of softwood like pine because its stronger, closer, denser grain.

-         Kiln Dried. Removes moisture to prevent warping, mildew, and odors.

-         Precision-cut by computer. Best for the environment-gives highest yield from each cut tree.

-         All wood we use is logged under strict regulation and monitored closely to preserve our environment.

-         Sturdy. For added strength, our frame joints are double doweled, high pressure stapled, wood glued with corner blocks screwed in to place. This system provides structural integrity like no other.

Springs

-         Arched 8 gauge steel serpentine springs (also called sinuous or zig-zag) for lasting comfort and support.

-         Spaced a comfortable 3” apart, with a double row at each end for extra support in the corners, where most of us like to settle.

-         Secured to the front and back of the frame with paper-coated metal clips.  Coating prevents squeaks from metal-to-metal contact.

Cushions

-         High-Density, High-Resiliency foam core. Lowers you gently but firmly to sitting, reshapes when you stand.

-         Environmentally safe. Foam does not release ozone depleting CFC’s into the atmosphere during manufacturing.

-         Each cushion engineered specifically for each piece. Insures correct seat-to-back relationship.

-         Meets California 117 codes for flame retardancy (shouldn’t the whole country have the highest protection?).

-         Three Fills; Poly, Gold Down, or Platinum White Goose Down Blend (platinum pieces only).
